Senior GOLD: Emily Murphy Cup

The ERU hosts the Emily Murphy Cup annually. This championship game is the BATTLE OF ALBERTA and sees the women’s Edmonton Gold team play the Calgary Mavericks.


There are both senior and U20 players represented in these matches.


The last time this match was played was in 2018, where the GOLD team took the trophy defeating the Mavericks 49-38!

Junior GOLD: Challenge Cup & Alberta Regional Championships (ARC)

The Junior GOLD U16 & U18 teams compete in multiple representative competitions during the calendar year.


The Challenge Cup is an annual traditional match between the Edmonton Gold and Calgary mavericks.


The Alberta Regional Championship (ARC) is an identification competition for the Alberta Provincial team – the Alberta Wolfpack. Regional teams from Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, and Okotoks area compete to win the Championship!


ARC 7s – usually the 3rd week in January, this 2-day tournament is held indoors at the Foot Field Dome.


Challenge Cup – usually the 3rd week in June, this 1-day game is held in either Edmonton or Calgary.


ARC 15s – on Canada Day long weekend, this 2-day tournament is held at various locations throughout Alberta.

Alberta Wolfpack

This is the Alberta Provincial representative team. Players are selected based on performance at ARC as well as during club and school seasons.

Junior Wolfpack

  • Players typically compete in the Western Canadian Championships on August Long Weekend
  • Trainings are typically on Sundays in July

Senior Wolfpack

  • Players typically compete in a series of matches against B.C., Manitoba, and/or Saskatchewan in April – June
  • Training dates vary and are determined by Rugby Alberta.

Figtree Kangaroos 10. 10. 70 defeated Helensburgh Tigers 10. 9. 69


A thrilling encounter saw the Roos come from behind to secure a crucial 1 point victory. Down by 12 points at halftime, captain Jake Morrison sparked the comeback with a brilliant individual goal in the late in the 3rd quarter. Young gun winger Tommy Chen sealed the win with a spectacular off-the-ground finish in the dying minutes. The defensive effort from Mike Stevens and Danny Walsh was outstanding, making crucial tackles when it mattered most.
