Whether you’re new to rugby and looking to learn the fundamentals of coaching, a player exploring a new opportunity, or an enthusiastic supporter ready to lead a team, there’s a World Rugby/NCCP course tailored for you. Our Level 1 and Level 2 courses cover essential topics such as game management, player welfare, effective communication, and skill development, all while emphasizing a player-centered approach to coaching.

Course Information – 1 day (8hrs)
This course is designed to enable coaches to acquire basic skills so that players new to the game learn to play safely, with enjoyable competition. It is an 8 hour Trained Only course with no post-course evaluation.

Course Information – 2 days (18hrs)
This course is designed to provide coaches with the skills needed to coach teenage and adult players in a club or school environment. It is extremely important that coaches have an understanding of rugby before taking this course, which is delivered over 18 hours. Note that there is no requirement to complete the Level 1 course prior to registering for the level 2

Coach Certification Pathway
Important! All coaches of youth teams are required to have annual vulnerable sector checks.
Step 1. Create Accounts
There are THREE platforms which require accounts, buckle up!
1. The Locker – Register with the Coaching Association of Canada & create your NCCP number at https://thelocker.coach.ca/account/login
- Note: An NCCP number is required to complete your accreditation, do this first!
2. World Rugby Passport – Create an account at passport.world.rugby/login/?action=register
3. The Breakdown – Create an account with Rugby Canada to sign up for courses at https://breakdown.rugby.ca/learn
Step 2. WORLD RUGBY – Training Modules
- Complete the above WR Modules at passport.worldrugby.org
- Save your WR certificates to your computer as a PDFs
- Return to your profile on the Breakdown and upload both certificates to your profile
Step 3. THE LOCKER – Make Ethical Decisions

Step 4. Attend Course
Attend and Complete the NCCP course that you registered for!
At this point LEVEL 2 coaches have gained trained status and LEVEL 1 coaches are complete!
Step 5. Submit Coaching Diary
Satisfactorily complete a diary for a team that is being coached in the current or next Rugby season. The diary should cover a minimum cycle of four practices and two games within that cycle. The diary should provide evidence of a coach’s ability to apply the ‘Plan, Do, Review’ model. The coach’s progress during the course will be tracked on the NCCP Competition Introduction transcript. This serves as the ongoing assessment tool.
Step 6. On-Side Evaluation
A full practice plan including the date, time and venue should be submitted to the local Rugby Union no later than 21 days prior to the requested date of the evaluation itself.
Once the coach has completed the on-site evaluation and meets competency at all levels of the transcripts, the coach can be signed off as certified.

A thrilling encounter saw the Roos come from behind to secure a crucial 1 point victory. Down by 12 points at halftime, captain Jake Morrison sparked the comeback with a brilliant individual goal in the late in the 3rd quarter. Young gun winger Tommy Chen sealed the win with a spectacular off-the-ground finish in the dying minutes. The defensive effort from Mike Stevens and Danny Walsh was outstanding, making crucial tackles when it mattered most.
