DECISION TREE FOR MATCHES AFFECTED BY INCLEMENT AIR QUALITY

Where possible match decisions will be made 24hrs in advance for travelling matches. All decisions for local matches are made day-of. If this is not possible or no messaging is provided, teams are to show up expecting to play and must consult with the match official and their opponent prior to kick off to determine the match status.

1. Navigate to https://airquality.alberta.ca/map/ for the most accurate information

2. Make a decision based on the Air Quality rating.

Match officials and coaches are to arrive ready to play and meet prior to kick off and review the most current AQHI rating. If the AQ remains at 8+ the match is delayed by 30min, after this  if there is no change the match is to be rescheduled. If the air quality changes dramatically during the game and 65% or more of the match time has passed, the result at the time the match is called is deemed final. However, if less than 65% of game time has passed the match will be rescheduled.

  • Training held indoors or cancelled
  • Senior & Junior matches AQ to be reviewed at kick off and the status of the match will follow the above decision tree

9+ 🛑 All matches cancelled, training to be moved indoors where possible

The Edmonton Rugby Union is located within the territories of Treaty 6, 7, and 8 as well as the Métis settlements and six regions of the Métis nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We acknowledge and are grateful that rugby throughout all of the Edmonton Rugby Union happens on the traditional meeting grounds, gathering places, and travelling routes of the Nehiyawak, Dene, Nakota Sioux, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi, Tsuu Tina, and Iyarhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda). We honour and thank all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who have lived, played, gathered, and whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries past and will forever more.
