In honour the passing of our dear rugby colleague, Lynn Davies, the Strathcona Druids and Sherwood Park Outlaws will host a “Celebration of Life” on Sunday September 8th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Clubhouse in the Lynn Davies Rugby Park, 23360 Twp Rd 524A in Sherwood Park.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Lynn Davies passed away Sunday July 28th.

Lynn was a proud Welshman, who helped found the Druids RFC in 1960. He was a great prop and coach, who inspired many of us now playing juniors, seniors, and old boys rugby.

Lynn was a key recruiter, coach, friend, and mentor to many rugby players and organizers over the years and a key driver for the Druids RFC

Lynn started the Sherwood Park Outlaws RFC in the early 1990’s. He was the point guy to secure the current Strathcona Druids fields, appropriately called the Lynn Davies Rugby Park. It is home to the largest high school spring rugby tournament in Alberta, the Lynn Davies Tourney. Lynn championed junior, seniors, and old boys rugby.

Lynn was the face of the Druids, and the rugby park, often seen fixing or riding his beloved tractors and lawn equipment to maintain the grounds, with a friendly wave.

Rest in Peace Lynn.

ERU Referee Abuse Policy

Please click the link in header above to read the Referee Abuse Policy from the Edmonton Rugby Union (ERU) and the Edmonton Rugby Union Referees Society (ERURS). This policy is effective immediately and applies to all coaches and spectators.

Player abuse of referees will continue to be dealt with according to the World Rugby and ERU Rules and Regulations.

The ERU Club Presidents have committed their support of this policy.  The clubs have pledged to work with the ERU and ERURS to curb referee abuse.   Be reminded that it is the CLUB’S responsibility to control spectators as per item 2.3 in the Rugby Alberta Rules & Regulations

We ask that if you see any instances of referee abuse (or volunteer/staff abuse), that you let your board members know so that it can be dealt with.  Or speak to the coach or spectator yourself if you feel safe to do so.  If we do not curb this trend we will continue to lose referees and the game will suffer.
