Ieuan Evans Rugby Development Grant

Rationale: This grant is designed to recognize the contribution of Ieaun Evans for his initiative and diligence in getting the Edmonton Rugby Union involved in bingo halls within the city. Using the interest earned on the funds that the ERU received from the sale of the Allendale Bingo Hall, a grant program will be set up. The money will come from the interest earned on the principle, without touching the principle.

Amount: These grants will be worth $1,000.00 per grant.  Number of Grants may vary from year to year based on funds available.

Eligibility: Any individual who is a paid member in good standing with the ERU. In the event that 3 applications are not received, the amount unpaid will be carried over to the following year and additional grants will be advertised. This grant is not for playing purposes.

Criteria: The Grants will be given based on the following criteria

1. Benefit of the training to the individual
2. Benefit of the training to the ERU
3. Past history of involvement in ERU programs
4. Commitment to further involvement in ERU programs
5. Letter of support from an existing ERU Club in good standing or other governing body recognized by the ERU.

Distribution: Funds will be presented upon a written proposal to the ERU that include all of the criteria listed above. Winners will be chosen no later than the end of February of the year in which the award will be presented and the monies presented upon completion of the training or on a date agreeable to both and achievable with the dates that the investments may be locked into at the financial institution.

Application Process: All applicants must submit a written application that includes the criteria above as well as curriculum vitae of rugby involvement within the ERU. Applications must be submitted to the ERU prior to January 31st of the year in which the applicant is applying for.
