RUGBY CANADA SAFE RUGBY TRAINING
SAFE RUGBY is designed to ensure that coaches build safe techniques into all aspects of rugby training and play.
It's the minimum requirement for every Rugby Canada registered coach and referee participating in the game where there is a tackle component. Rugby Canada and Rugby Alberta recommend that all teachers involved in coaching High School Rugby should also complete this Safe Rugby program.
2007 was the first year of the mandatory Rugby Canada Safe Rugby program for coaches and referees in Canada.
All coaches and referees should be aware that;
· It is mandatory for all Coaches and Referees in Canada to attend a Safe Rugby Session.
· It is mandatory for any coach or referee wishing to gain an accreditation to attend a Safe Rugby Session.
· If you have taken an NCCP coaching Award or an IRB Referee Course in Alberta you will have already participated in the Safe Rugby program and gained this qualification.
Irrespective of your experience or current level of accreditation all coaches and referees will start at the same place, Rugby Canada Safe Rugby Education and Safety Update session.
Courses will last 2.5 hour for all coaches and referees to attend once every two years. Your attendance at the session will result in a Safe Rugby qualification being recorded into the Rugby Canada Database.
